The 2021 Chrysler Pacifica and the 2021 Honda Odyssey go Head to Head
Minivans make excellent family cars, and if you’re looking to buy one for your brood, you have a lot of choices. This guide looks at two – the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica and the 2021 Honda Odyssey – and how they compare in a few areas.
Power and Performance
The 2021 Chrysler Pacifica comes with a 3.6-liter V6 engine that produces 287 horsepower. This is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, but you can opt for all-wheel drive. For a minivan, the Chrysler Pacifica is surprisingly agile, and it has a fantastic suspension system. The 2021 Honda Odyssey also comes with a 3.6-liter V6, but this one only generates 280 horsepower. Front-wheel drive is the one drivetrain available for the Honda minivan.
Tech
If you want your minivan outfitted with some of the latest tech features, the Chrysler Pacifica is perfect. Every model comes with the Uconnect® 5 infotainment system with a very responsive 10.1-inch touchscreen. You will also get:
- Remote start
- Android Auto™
- Apple CarPlay®
- Amazon Alexa™
- HD and satellite radio
- A USB port
- Bluetooth®
- A six-speaker stereo
This Chrysler minivan can also be outfitted with quite a few extras, including a 19-speaker Harmon Kardon sound system, navigation, wireless device charging, and a rear-seat entertainment system. The standard tech features in the Honda Odyssey are sparce, as Bluetooth® and two USB ports are the most notable components. Anything else – including smartphone connectivity – requires an upgrade.
Safety
New Chrysler models come loaded with safety features, and the Chrysler Pacifica is no exception. Inside every model you will find:
- Automatic emergency braking
- A rearview camera
- Blind-spot monitoring
- Rear parking sensors
- Lane departure warning
- Rear cross-traffic alert
- Adaptive cruise control
- Lane keep assist
- Forward collision warning
A surround-view parking camera system and front parking sensors can also be added. The Honda Odyssey does come with some of the same safety features. However, you can only get rear cross-traffic alert, blind spot monitoring, and parking sensors in upper trims.
